The Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda has received a comprehensive update on the Government’s ongoing national road rehabilitation and infrastructure programme, with officials reporting continued progress on major projects and expanded plans for rural road development.

During Wednesday’s Cabinet meeting, senior officials from the Ministry of Works, including the Minister of State, the Permanent Secretary, the Director of Works and the Deputy Director of Works, briefed Ministers on the status of the All Saints Road project and ongoing rehabilitation efforts taking place across Antigua and Barbuda.

According to Cabinet, the Ministry of Works has committed to maintaining the current pace of roadworks while increasing attention on rural communities where road conditions have long posed challenges for residents and motorists.

Officials advised that the Government intends to further accelerate rehabilitation works to improve road safety, durability and accessibility throughout the country.

As part of the initiative, Cabinet approved the acquisition of two additional specialized pieces of equipment designed specifically for use in narrow roadways and difficult-to-access communities. The equipment is expected to significantly improve the Ministry’s ability to undertake paving and rehabilitation works in smaller residential areas where conventional machinery is less effective.

Cabinet also approved the engagement of additional technical experts to strengthen the Ministry’s ongoing infrastructure programme. The added expertise is expected to improve project execution, increase operational efficiency and enhance the overall quality of road development nationwide.

Ministers used the opportunity to commend the leadership and staff of the Ministry of Works for what Cabinet described as “excellent work” currently being undertaken across Antigua and Barbuda.

Cabinet praised the Ministry’s dedication and professionalism in advancing the Government’s infrastructure agenda, noting that improved road networks remain a key component of the country’s broader national development strategy.

The Government reaffirmed its commitment to continued investment in public infrastructure, emphasizing that upgraded road networks are essential to improving connectivity, enhancing public safety and supporting long-term economic growth.
