Government has pledged its support for the upcoming Antigua and Barbuda National Inter‑Schools Championships, which organisers say could be the largest staging of the event in modern times.
Members of the marketing team for the championships visited Cabinet this week to promote the event and seek the government’s support in raising public awareness.
More than 700 student-athletes are expected to participate in the championships, which will run from March 12 to March 15 at the YASCO Sports Complex.
The delegation was accompanied by Sports Commissioner Colin Greene.
Cabinet members expressed enthusiasm about the event and pledged their individual support and attendance.
They also participated in the recording of a short promotional video highlighting the event’s theme, “Cape On.”
Officials say the championships remain one of the country’s most important school sporting events, providing young athletes with an opportunity to showcase their talents and compete at the national level.
