The Government of Antigua and Barbuda has signed an agreement with China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation to repave and upgrade the North Sound Drag Racing Track.
Located near the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, the facility has grown into a major recreational hub, attracting large crowds for motorsport events.
Authorities say the project will include resurfacing and enhanced safety features aimed at protecting both drivers and spectators. Motorsport development has been gaining traction across the Caribbean, with governments increasingly investing in regulated facilities to discourage illegal street racing.
Officials said that the upgrade will improve safety standards while supporting youth engagement and community recreation.
