The Government of Antigua and Barbuda has released 50 acres of land in MacPond as part of its expanded Land Empowerment Programme aimed at increasing access to property ownership.

The initiative, being administered through the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CHAPA), will make 35 acres immediately available for residential development. Plots averaging 6,000 square feet are priced at EC$3 per square foot, with financing options allowing payments over a 10-year period starting at approximately $175 per month.

Prime Minister Gaston Browne has consistently positioned land ownership as a pathway to economic mobility, particularly for first-time buyers.

An additional 15 acres have been allocated to regularize land tenure for long-standing occupants. Residents who have lived on the land for more than 20 years will be able to purchase plots at a concessional rate of $1 per square foot.

The programme forms part of a broader national strategy to expand access to affordable housing and develop sustainable communities.

Authorities are encouraging interested individuals to apply through CHAPA as demand for affordable land continues to grow.
