From 15-20 January 2026, the Honourable Mr Justice Winston Anderson, President of the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) and Mrs Gabrielle Figaro-Jones, Registrar and Chief Marshal, paid a visit to the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Member State of Barbados. During the visit, President Anderson delivered the keynote address at the Caribbean Natural Resources Institute’s (CANARI’s) Partners Forum on climate justice in the Caribbean.

Additionally, courtesy calls were paid on key public officials of Barbados, including His Excellency Lt. Col. Jeffrey Bostic, FB, MVO, President; the Honourable Mia Mottley, SC, MP, Prime Minister; the Honourable Mr Justice Leslie Haynes, Chief Justice; and the Honourable Ralph Thornes, KC, MO, Leader of the Opposition.

The visit reflected the Court’s strategic commitment to sustained stakeholder engagement, consistent with the CCJ’s Strategic Plan 2025–2032. It directly supported the Court’s strategic priorities of Access to Justice and Regional Impact and Communication, Stakeholder Engagement, and Public Trust, by expanding direct engagement with CARICOM Member States to enhance stakeholder awareness of the work of the Court and strengthen regional institutional relationships.

This is the third round of courtesy calls that the Court has engaged in since Mr Justice Anderson was appointed President in July 2025. In October 2025, he paid courtesy calls on public officials in the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, including the President of Guyana, Chancellor (Ag) of the Judiciary, Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, the Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community, and representatives of We Invest in Nationhood, A Partnership for National Unity and the Forward Guyana Movement.

In November 2025, President Anderson paid courtesy calls on the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Suriname, the President of the Court of Justice, and the Dean of the Faculty of Law at the Anton de Kom University of Suriname.
