Residents disconnected from essential utility services for more than six months will have their outstanding balances waived under a new Cabinet-approved policy.
The measure applies to electricity, water, and landline services and is designed to provide relief to households facing financial hardship. Affected residents are being encouraged to contact the Antigua Public Utilities Authority to arrange reconnection.
The government said the initiative reflects its broader effort to ease cost-of-living pressures while ensuring access to essential services.
Officials noted that long-term disconnections often create barriers to economic participation and quality of life, particularly for vulnerable households.
The policy is expected to facilitate reconnection without the burden of accumulated debt, allowing residents to re-enter the utility system on a more sustainable footing.
