Cabinet has congratulated Diagnostic and Interventional Radiologist Dr. Preston Goodwin on completing a year-long Vascular and Interventional Radiology Fellowship at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital in Singapore.

Dr. Goodwin has returned home and presented a proposal to establish a state-of-the-art Interventional Radiology (IR) service at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre (SLBMC). The proposed service would allow Antigua and Barbuda to perform critical, minimally invasive, and potentially life-saving procedures locally—reducing overseas referrals and elevating national healthcare capacity.

The initiative includes the acquisition of a Fluoroscopy (Angiography) Suite to enable a wide range of vascular, trauma, and diagnostic interventions.

Cabinet has directed the Ministry of Health and the SLBMC Board to conduct a detailed technical and financial evaluation before final approval.

The Government emphasized its continued commitment to investing in specialist healthcare and expanding access to advanced medical services for residents.
