Additional Building Supplies for Vulnerable, low-income Households to arrive in Antigua this Week

Acting on the Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda approval a few months ago of important measures to strengthen its ongoing efforts to improve housing conditions for vulnerable and low-income households across the nation, government has announced the imminent arrival of critical building supplies this week set to bolster the initiative.

The materials are expected to provide timely relief and directly support the Government’s housing assistance programme, ensuring that much-needed repairs and improvements can be accelerated nationwide.

This shipment will assist less fortunate households in addressing urgent structural needs, including roof repairs, reinforcement works, and the replacement of rotting boards and leaks—helping to ensure that residents live in homes free from deterioration and unsafe conditions.

The programme has already begun island-wide distributions of lumber and other building supplies to eligible homeowners, including seniors, persons with disabilities, and families facing economic hardships. This initiative forms part of the Government’s broader social intervention aimed at upgrading the national housing stock and enhancing residential living standards.
