The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for Antigua and Barbuda recorded a 0.2 percent increase year-on-year in June 2025, following a 0.6 percent decline in May, according to data released by the Statistics Division under the Ministry of Finance and Corporate Governance.
The report shows that while the overall All Items Less Food and Energy Index remained unchanged, the Energy Indexrose by 5.4 percent compared to June 2024. Meanwhile, the Food Index fell by 0.8 percent over the past year, driven largely by declines in vegetables such as lettuce (-60.6%), onions (-13.8%) and white potatoes (-12.3%). Fish and seafood (-3.2%), oils and fats (-6.3%), and dairy (-2.2%) also contributed to the downward trend.
In contrast, the monthly analysis showed that prices rose 1.0 percent in June compared to May. Food prices climbed by 0.9 percent, with increases in fruits (+3.5%) and vegetables (+2.8%). Processed products such as tomato paste, ketchup, and barbecue sauce also recorded higher costs.
Core inflation, which excludes food and energy, increased 1.1 percent month-to-month. Transport services were up by 8.4 percent, while rental housing costs rose by 3.0 percent. Goods and services for routine household maintenance also edged upward by 1.0 percent.
The CPI is the country’s main measure of inflation, tracking price changes in goods and services most commonly purchased by households. The Statistics Division noted that the index helps policymakers, businesses, and households make informed decisions.
